About industries
What an industry is
Section titled “What an industry is”An industry describes the sector a client operates in — Energy, Life Sciences, Real Estate — as opposed to a practice, which describes the legal work you do for them.
The same matter usually carries both: Corporate Law for the service, Energy for the client’s world.
Why industries matter
Section titled “Why industries matter”Sector expertise is increasingly what clients and directories actually ask about. “Who have you acted for in renewables?” is an industry question, not a practice question, and KLERQ can only answer it if the tagging is there.
Industries drive:
- Company records. Every company must belong to at least one industry — it is the one genuinely required relationship on a company.
- Referee matching. Contacts are tagged with industries so the right referees surface for a sector-specific submission.
- Sector pitches. Presentations can lead with sector credentials.
