About labels

A label is your firm’s own tag — Strategic, Urgent, Follow-up, Confidential. Unlike practices and industries, which are shared vocabulary that directories understand, labels are internal and mean whatever your firm decides.

Labels are filterable, which makes them far more useful than notes for anything you will want to find again as a set. “Show me every strategic client with an ongoing matter” is a label question.

Each label is bound to one entity type. A label made for matters will not appear on submissions. That keeps each list short and relevant, at the cost of having to create the same label twice if you want it in two places.
