About roles

A role describes seniority — Partner, Counsel, Senior Associate, Trainee. Every specialist has one.

A role is not a permission. What someone can do in KLERQ is decided by permission groups; a role describes their standing in the firm, which is what appears externally.

Directories count by seniority. Almost every submission asks for the number of partners and associates in a practice, and several rank individuals within seniority bands — a senior associate is not judged against a partner.

If your role list does not match the titles your firm uses publicly, every submission needs manual translation.
