What a submission is
Section titled “What a submission is”A submission is your firm’s entry to a legal directory — Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR and the rest — for one practice area in one cycle. KLERQ assembles it from records you already keep, so submission season becomes selection and editing rather than authorship.
Why submissions are the hard part of the year
Section titled “Why submissions are the hard part of the year”A submission needs three things that arrive at different speeds:
- Work highlights — already recorded, if matters have been kept current.
- Specialists — already on file, if profiles are complete.
- Referees — the slow part, because it depends on other people. Contacts must be current, willing, and reachable, and most directories cap how many you may nominate.
Almost every late submission is late for reason three. Starting early buys time on the only part you do not control.

Settings that affect submissions
Section titled “Settings that affect submissions”- Legal directories — the directory must exist first, and its Requirements field is where word limits and referee counts should be recorded.
- Practices — you submit per practice, so the practice must exist.
- Notifications — controls deadline reminders and approval requests.
