What KAI does

KAI is KLERQ’s own AI, built in rather than bolted on. It covers two things:

Smart search. Ask for what you want in plain language — “matters for Northwind with a deal value over one million” — instead of assembling filters. KAI translates the question into a structured query and returns matching records.

Text tools. Translate, summarise, anonymise and improve text on records you are already editing — bios, descriptions, work highlights.

This distinction matters for a firm handling confidential client information, and the two halves of KAI behave differently.

Smart search sends only your question. No client or matter data leaves KLERQ; the AI produces a query, and the query runs against your database.

Text tools send the text you are working on, because that is inherently what they operate on. Asking KAI to improve a work highlight sends that work highlight.

The two are governed by separate settings, so a firm can enable search without enabling text processing.

KAI is good at finding things across entities and at turning rough notes into readable copy. It is not a substitute for judgement about what should go to a directory — a generated work highlight still needs approving by someone who knows the matter.
