About presentations
What a presentation is
Section titled “What a presentation is”A presentation is KLERQ’s pitch document — a client-facing web page assembled from records you already keep. Rather than rebuilding a deck each time, the credentials, team bios and client quotes are pulled from your matters, specialists and testimonials.
Presentations were previously called pitches. The terminology changed; the concept did not.
Why it works this way
Section titled “Why it works this way”Because content is pulled rather than retyped, a presentation is only as good as the records behind it. That is deliberate — effort spent recording work properly pays off in every future pitch, and a pitch cannot quietly claim something the firm cannot evidence.
The practical consequence: the work happens before you open the builder. A matter that is not recorded cannot be cited.
The chapters
Section titled “The chapters”A presentation is built from chapters. The default set is thirteen, and your firm can change which are available in Presentation chapters.
| Chapter | What goes in it | Pulled from |
|---|---|---|
| General information | Title, the company being pitched, dates | You, plus the company record |
| Specialists | The team the client will see | Specialist profiles, with bios and photos |
| Preface | The opening argument — why your firm | Written per pitch |
| Scope of work | What you propose to do | Written per pitch |
| Firm | Who your firm is | Your organization profile |
| Team | How the team is structured, who leads what | Written, referencing specialists |
| Pricing | Fee proposal and structure | Written per pitch |
| Practices | Practice areas relevant to this pitch | Practice descriptions |
| Work highlights | The specific work you cite as evidence | Matters and their work highlights |
| Testimonials | What other clients have said | Recorded testimonials |
| Publications | Thought leadership showing depth | Recorded publications |
| Clients | Comparable clients you act for | Company records |
| Industries | Sector credentials | Industry descriptions |
Four of these — Preface, Scope of work, Team and Pricing — are genuinely bespoke to each pitch. The rest are selection: choosing which of your existing records to show.
Chapters can be reordered, and New chapter adds an extra one where the standard set does not fit.
The lifecycle of a presentation
Section titled “The lifecycle of a presentation”- Draft — built and edited freely. Nothing is visible to anyone outside the firm.
- Shared — a link is generated. The client always sees the current version, and you can see that they opened it.
- Exported — optionally downloaded as Word or PowerPoint. An export is a snapshot and does not update.
- Archived — once the pitch concludes, so the active list stays meaningful.
How presentations connect to the rest of KLERQ
Section titled “How presentations connect to the rest of KLERQ”| Connected to | How |
|---|---|
| Companies | Pitched to one; its logo and description are pulled in |
| Specialists | Selected as the pitch team |
| Matters | Work highlights cited as experience |
| Testimonials | Quoted as client evidence |
| Publications | Cited as thought leadership |
| Practices and industries | Their descriptions fill the credential chapters |
Settings that affect presentations
Section titled “Settings that affect presentations”- Presentation chapters — which chapters colleagues can build with. Keeping this list tight is how a firm keeps pitches consistent.
- Custom CSS — your branding on client-facing pages. Preview a presentation after changing it.
- Firm settings — default currency and date format used throughout.
